My background:

I received my bachelor’s degrees in psychology and family science from the University of Maryland and my master’s in marriage and family therapy from University of Rochester. My education has taught me that helping someone involves looking towards the bigger picture in their lives in addition to the individual’s mental health. I believe this provides context and deepens the understanding for their stories. I have had the privilege of learning many of these stories by working with a diverse number of clients, including individuals, couples, and families of various ages and backgrounds. I am most passionate about working with couples and families (including children and adolescents) as I can incorporate my training in the systemic/relational approach to emphasize how relationships shape and influence one another. I have a particular interest in working with couples as they navigate conflict, communication issues, life transitions, and trauma. I explore the couple’s pattern and style of communication to help them build on communication skills, emotion regulation, and stress management. I enjoy helping couples learn how to better understand one another and work together as a team to tackle their struggles. This is also true for families I work with as I explore how they interact with one another, what their values and expectations are, and how they affect each other without even realizing it. I strive for a supportive and understanding couple/family system that may break apart from their unhealthy cycles and patterns. Together, we can figure out what it is you most want to achieve from couples/family work and how to work towards that.

About me:

I aim to build a genuine relationship with you to help you work towards your goals. As we work towards your goals, I want to ensure that you feel heard and understood with my empathetic and nonjudgmental presence. I take a collaborative, strengths-based, systemic, and emotion-focused approach and would love to learn all about your story to get to know you better and aid your healing. I believe in the power of relationships to transform our lives, and I hope to provide a supportive relationship.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, dancing, ice skating, and spending quality time with friends and family. I love trying new things, including searching for good food and traveling, whether it’s just exploring the DMV or going all across the world.
