Clinical Special Interests: Self-identity, trauma (chronic and acute), PTSD, depression, life transitions and associated stress, and relational issues (both couples and families).

My approach to therapy is client-focused, strengths-based, relational and systemic. My training has prepared me to evaluate and assess the relationships an individual or individuals have with their families, friends, co-workers, partners, and especially with themselves. This approach allows me the opportunity to work with a wide range of presenting problems with any client who is committed to healing and introspection and who desires a more fulfilling life that is truly of their own making.

My Background:

After earning my bachelor’s degree in psychology, I completed my Master of Science degree at Northern Illinois University in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have had the pleasure of working with an eclectic population, including adult and adolescent individuals, couples, children and families. My clients have come from various cultural backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, and life stages. I enjoy working with both heterosexual and LGBTQ+ clients as well.

My clients seek to improve their lives in several ways and that often involves the following: better managing their mental health diagnosis and anxiety related to relationships, handling transitional, occupational and academic stress, and building a better relationship with themselves. I also work with couples in all stages of a relationship, including those who struggle with communication, lack of trust, infidelity, difference of personalities and difference in parenting styles. Premarital couples see me to reinforce the strength of their relationship, overcome communication hurdles, learn to compromise, and prepare for the next stages of their relationship. Families that seek therapy want to work on relationships between children and parents, repairing relationships within the family, identifying and setting boundaries within the family system, and relationship transitions between adult children and their parents.

About Me:

I value empathy, respect, introspection, trust and understanding. I am passionate about therapy and helping my clients reach their goals and becoming the healthiest versions of
themselves. Helping the client develop insight into themselves is an essential step in identifying goals for therapy. I enjoy forming honest, encouraging, trusting and respectful relationships with my clients. Being warm, empathic, inquisitive, and giving value to someone’s experience goes a long way in building a strong relationship. Additionally, I am an advocate of
diligence and the application of what we do in therapy. My therapeutic approach reflects my personality as a lighthearted and emotion-focused individual who values the relationships I have with myself and the others around me.

In my personal life, I love to indulge in all kinds of media: music, movies, TV and books.
I am a huge sports fan and enjoy exercising and being outdoors (when the weather permits). I also love to cook and experiment with different cuisines and recipes.
