Answers to Your

Frequently Asked Questions

Our team empowers clients to reach their personal goals, strengthen relationships, improve communication, and prioritize their well-beings.

  • Anyone. Individual therapy is tailored to your exact needs. Whatever you’re struggling with – whether it’s depression, anxiety, or just getting your life back on track after a nasty divorce or the loss of a job – your individual therapist can help. It takes a lot of patience, communication, and honesty, and that’s exactly what we’re ready to offer.

When you schedule individual therapy at Lindsey Hoskins & Associates, you’re getting in touch with a trained professional who has plenty of experience with a wide range of sensitive issues. We’ll listen to you and talk you through your issues, and we’ll help you healthily manage any potential triggers in the future.

  • Many people assume that couples counseling is just for rocky relationships. And while couples therapy can definitely help if you and your loved one are experiencing difficulties (such as a lack of intimacy, infidelity, and even just a conflict between professional and personal commitments), our therapists can help healthy relationships become even stronger.

You and your significant other may be planning to move in together. You may be thinking of marriage, or having children. We provide a safe and comfortable environment for both heterosexual and LGBTQ couples to discuss their challenges, their goals, and how they can reach happiness and fulfillment together.

  • Every family is different, and so are every family’s goals. Many families fight, but some fight more than others. Family counseling can also allow you and your loved ones to move past grief, or get used to a new living situation.

No matter the intended outcome, family therapy always revolves around clear communication. When you meet with one of our trained therapists, you’ll have a chance to openly discuss your expectations and recent conflicts. It may be necessary to split into smaller groups, or even have some one-on-one time with a family counselor.

  • Medical family therapy is an important resource if you or a close family member is dealing with a difficult illness, disability, or other health issue. These challenges can result in plenty of stress and unresolved conflicts. It’s important to attend medical family therapy sessions if you’ve been affected (either directly or indirectly) by your family member’s health.

At Lindsey Hoskins & Associates, we’ll help you and your loved ones address the mental and emotional toll of these medical issues. You may need to attend sessions with your whole family, or just schedule a smaller group session in a comfortable environment with one of our therapists.

  • Premarital counseling is an excellent tool for couples who are ready to take the next step in their relationships. By meeting with a trained therapist, couples can discuss their expectations for the future – including children, financial planning, and even how family of origin issues may affect your relationship in the future.

At Lindsey Hoskins & Associates, we offer a five-session PREPARE/ENRICH package that will give you and your partner deeper and more unique insights about each other. It’s a good idea to start your premarital counseling 6-12 months ahead of your wedding date, so you have plenty of time to practice and develop your new skills before the big day.

  • Lindsey Hoskins & Associates does not bill insurance companies directly for several reasons.

Unfortunately, most insurance companies don’t believe treatment for relationship problems should be covered the way that medical or psychiatric care are covered. The way the system currently works, billing insurance companies requires your therapist to give you a mental health diagnosis for your insurance company to cover the cost of your therapy. Most clients we see don’t have a mental health diagnosis, and we’re not comfortable creating one when the people who seek our services are experiencing very normal couple and family relationship issues. Such a diagnosis would then become a part of your permanent record with that insurance company, and may follow you for the rest of your life and create difficulties in receiving future care or coverage.

Billing an insurance company also requires us to provide details about our work together to an employee or group of employees at the insurance company, who would then have a role in making decisions about your case (e.g., advising what kind of treatment we should provide, how long you should be allowed to come for therapy, etc.).

We think decisions about our work together should be made by you!

We’re happy to provide you with a statement of paid services, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Many of our clients are successful in receiving reimbursement in this way, though it is usually not for 100% of the fee. If you are covered by a PPO, you may be able to use your out-of-network reimbursement options. Please contact your insurance provider directly to explore this option.
